Boots was established
in 1849, by John Boot.
On the 31 July 2006 Boots Group plc merged with Alliance UniChem
plc to form Alliance Boots.
Alliance Boots made a £101 million profit for the year ended 31 March 2009 and employs over 115,000
people.
During the year Boots carried out a major upgrade of the boots.com website to make it easier for their customers
to use. The Boots website is now more closely integrated with their retail offering with “order-on-line collect-in-store”
available in over 1,300 Boots stores at the year end. This new feature in particular gives “your local Boots pharmacy”
customers convenient access to the extended Boots product range, including the full seasonal gift offerings. Further enhancements
to the website are planned over the coming months.
As well as being the most visited Health and Beauty retail website in the UK in 2007 , May
2008 saw Boots.com voted the 'Best Beauty Website' by the Sunday Times.

available on the Boots website include Beauty, Fragrance, Health, Electrical, Photo and Gifts.
