Churchill Insurance was originally formed in 1989 to sell car insurance.
Home Insurance was added to the product range in 1990 and since then products like pet insurance, van and motorbike insurance
have been added. In 2003 Curchill was acquired by Royal Bank of Scotland for £1.1 billion. RBS Insurance includes Churchill,
Direct Line, Churchill and Green Flag and are the UK's largest motor insurer and the No 2 hose insurers (year end 2009).
As part of the settlement that was reached with the European Commission RBS will have to sell the division in the
next 4 years.
