The Office for National Statistics reported that for the first time there are more people aged over 65
in the UK than there are aged under 15. And that over the next 40 years the younger age group will be roughly stable,
but the older group will double in size. The fastest-growing age group, though, is the over-80s, whose numbers will
increase from 2.7 million today to 6.2 million. When you also consider that across all categories, British over-60s spend
£205 billion a year, accounting for 40% of all spending power and this figure is increasing it is surprising how many
travel insurance companies dont cater for this age group or if they do don't offer annual travel insurance or worldwide
travel insurance to the over 65's.
